As part of our Bovey 50 pledge, Phase 2 had a go at playing conkers, which was great fun for all. The children really enjoyed collecting conkers and bringing them into school. We are really grateful to the people at Bovey Shed who volunteered to drill the holes in the conkers, making a great link with community projects.
After the children were given instructions on how to play the game, they enjoyed going outside, and having a go at winning against their opponent. The children got stuck in with this traditional autumn game, especially when it came to stamping on their opponent's conker.
Throughout the session, the children developed a range of valuable skills:
Hand-eye coordination: Learning to focus on the conker and moving their own conker safely and precisely.
Resilience: Coping with missing their shot but still trying again next time.
This activity has supported our Bovey 50 pledge, enabling all children to access a variety of activities and we are so grateful that alongside with FOBS, that the children enjoy these.
